3/26-28/12 Washington DC Experience

by Tara

It has been a few weeks since we returned home from our trip to Washington D.C.. I have been on several trips like this before over the past few years, but this trip was different. Maybe it was because I was with the fellows, maybe because it was because my "life plan" has been changing, but whatever it was, it changed me. Through all of the POIs, places, and workshops we met, went to, and participated it, I became more and more inspired. This experience made me questions myself and what I really want in life. We met so many people with so many different stories, but if there was one thing I took away the most it was: don't be afraid to break the mold and bend the rule- explore your options, and always remember that your life may not go according to plan. As graduation quickly approaches, I do not know where I want to g! o to school or what I want to do, but I know I want to travel. I am highly considering taking a gap year to travel and do community service. This trip made me realize that it is okay that I don't know what I want to do, and if I want to travel- is should seize the opportunity. I am so thankful I was given this life changing opportunity, and would like to thank all of the people I met along with Ross and Annie, and the Fellows for inspiring me. I one day hope to be a POI that gets to speak the the future fellows.
